With the disharmonious Jumbles of bluegrass, outlaw country, Ska, Texas Swing, hardcore Punk rock and Norwegian Black Metal, singer/songwriter, Bryan Harwood was musically bred, influenced and inspired in the south central California music scene of Bakersfield.
His father, a bluegrass musician, introduced young Bryan to the Bakersfield sound by taking him to countless live performances by the likes of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, which was inspirational to the development of songwriting ideas and guitar playing. The desolate oil fields, extreme heat, dry farmlands, and hostile gang environment of the San Joaquin Valley fueled the passion of aggressive creativity that led to a teenage Bryan and his street punk friends to start playing in hardcore punk rock bands inspired by a mix of SoCAL punk ska, midwest Crust Anarcho, and new england style street punk.
Six years of constant gigging, dodging bullets and fist fights, Bryan moved away from the PunkRock lifestyle and took his music to solo singer songwriter style when he moved to the Redwoods in Northern California where he began establishing the style of music that he calls "Mountain Style Power Folk" that he now further develops.
Now, after 10 years of professional Wilderness Trail Crew and Forestry work in California, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona, Alaska, and Colorado, Bryan has written over 100 original songs with inspiration from the joys and despairs of a life in the mountains and experiences of life and near death. His songs incorporate the atmospheres associated with Love and Loss, tragedy and redemption, darkness and light, angels and demons, and deep spiritual philosophies with elements of the practice of Buddhism. With a booming voice, powerful guitar style, and a stage presence that can't be ignored, Bryan Harwood is sure to captivate an audience that isn't intimidated by the truth in his songs
